Question:

What do the column headings mean in my Watchlist and Positions pane?


Answer:

Chg: This is the dollar value change of the symbol you are tracking based on the previous close versus the current price

% Chg: This is the percentage change of the symbol you are tracking based on the previous close versus the current price

Mark: This is the midpoint between the BID and the ASK prices.

Symbol Name: This is the name of the company or security whose symbol you are following

Bid: This is the price a buyer is willing to pay for a security

Ask: This is the price a seller is willing to accept for the sale of a security

Last: This is the last traded price

Bid Size: This is the number of shares displayed that people are willing to buy at the current Bid price.  For equities, this is quoted in 1/100 of the shares offered.  For options, this is the exact number of contracts.

Ask Size: This is the number of shares being displayed that people are willing to sell at the current Ask price.  For equities, this is quoted in 1/100 of the shares offered.  For options, this is the exact number of contracts.

Volume: The number of stock shares or option contracts that have changed hands during the current session.

OI: The number of options contracts that are not closed or exercised at any given point in time

Day High (stocks only): The highest price reached that day

Day Low (stocks only): The lowest price reached that day

Qty: Quantity of this security Owned or placed in an order

Days to Expiration: The number of days left until expiration of the options contract

Price: The current midpoint between the BID and the ASK price of the security

Market Value: This is the total market value of all shares or contracts owned in the security

Cost Basis: This is the total dollar amount paid for this security

Gain/Loss: This is the overall change between the market value and the cost basis over the life of the position. In other words, how much you have made or lost in this position.

%Gain/Loss: This is the percentage value change between the market value and the cost basis over the life of the position. In other words, what percent are you up or down on this position overall.

Value Chg: The dollar value that this position has made or lost based on today’s change in the security price

Stock Last: The last price of the followed stock (whether the stock itself or the underlying of an option contract)

Trade Price: The average price paid for this position

ITM Amount: This is the difference between the strike price of the option position and the last price of the underlying security

Imp Vol: This is the estimated volatility of the option’s price

Delta: This “Greek” measures the sensitivity to changes in an option’s price relative to a corresponding change in the price of the underlying security

Theta: Measures the sensitivity of the option’s value to the passage of time

Vega: Measures an option’s sensitivity to a change in volatility

Gamma: Measures the sensitivity of an option’s Delta to a change in the underlying security

Transaction: Indicates the order type (buy to open, sell to close, Spread Sell/Buy, etc)

Price Type: Indicates the price type chosen when the order was placed (limit, market)

Status: Indicates the status of the order (e.g. open, pending, etc.)

Duration: This represents how long the order will be active.

Last Update: Shows the last time the order was modified.  If no modification has occurred, this will match Date Created.

Date Created: The time and date on which the order was created.
